About TheRouter

What TheRouter is

TheRouter (therouter.ai) is an LLM API gateway for engineering teams. One OpenAI-compatible endpoint routes requests across 22 upstream providers with fallback, unified billing and team governance. The product is operated by Wrise, LLC, a Delaware (USA) company. Our security and data-handling practices are described on the Trust page.

Why we publish news

We run a gateway, so we see how new models behave the day they ship: latency, time-to-first-byte, error mixes, failover behaviour, cache hit rates, realised cost. Most AI news is a rewrite of a vendor announcement. From 3 October 2026 we publish an article only when we can add something the announcement does not contain, and every article published from that date states which of three kinds of evidence it carries:

  • Gateway data — aggregates from our own request logs over a stated time window. We publish the query shape, the window and the row count alongside the numbers. We never publish per-customer data.
  • Live reproduction — a request we actually sent through the public API, with the response, keys and identifiers redacted.
  • Verified finding — a concrete behaviour we checked against our own code or documentation, which the source does not state.

If a story has none of these, we do not publish it. There is no daily quota. Some days we publish nothing.

How we use AI

For articles published from 3 October 2026: drafts are produced with AI assistance from the cited primary sources and from our evidence files. A named editor reviews every such article before it is published and is accountable for it; the byline is theirs, and each article carries a line stating how AI was used. Chinese editions are reviewed by a Chinese-speaking editor. Russian editions are machine-translated from the English original and say so at the top; we link the original on every translated page.

Archive

Articles published before 3 October 2026 were produced by an automated pipeline with AI assistance from the cited vendor sources and were published without individual review. We keep them for reference. Each one carries an archive label naming the editor of record, and they are not held to the evidence standard above. The corrections policy still applies: if an archive item is wrong, tell us and we will correct or remove it.

Sources

We write from primary sources — vendor documentation and announcements, papers, repositories, official accounts — and link them in every article. We do not republish other publications' summaries or rankings.

Corrections

If we got something wrong, write to hello@therouter.ai with the article URL. Material corrections are made in the article with an “Updated” date and a note describing what changed. We do not silently edit published numbers.

Pricing and independence

Model prices on this site are the vendors' published list prices; our fee is applied as a single disclosed margin at runtime (see Pricing). We do not accept payment for coverage, and vendor relationships do not influence what we publish or how we route.
